我对 comey 略有同情。
试想，大选前，大家都认为希拉里会赢。而 Comey 知道这个川普和俄国调查有多重要。他肯定不想被 GoP 臭骂甚至在俄国调查结束前被弹劾。所以前思后想想出来这么一个保住自己位子，间接保住能够完成调查的馊主意。

昨天听证前，有个保守的法律博客写了一篇如何解读 comey 的指南。大意是他爆料的信息量和案子的严重程度成反比。也就是说他爆料越多越说明案子接近结束没有抓到什么严重的证据， comey 会比较自由的发发怨气因为被撤了也无所谓了。反之如果他非常自律三缄其口就说明案子严重 Comey 会尽一切力量不给川皇撤销他职位的理由好能把案子进行下去。。。

我估计事后他也后悔自己那封表示希拉里有新邮件流出的信，但是如果没有这一出川皇肯定把他撤了，现在也轮不到他来给川皇戳这一刀了呀。。。

好吧，你的确说的有道理。我昨天听了一耳朵国会问询。对Comey说不清是同情还是厌恶。同时非常愤慨，Comey说一句希拉里邮件调查，满世界都是热情欢庆的假新闻，一定要捉住这歌小尾巴做大文章。现在Comey说调查trump通俄。除了被川皇指认是“fake news”的主流新闻媒体，群众怎么不吱声了？怎么不像油炸锅一样沸腾了？可见从一开始就是选民给自己找借口，别说自己被骗了。

Following an incidence of misconduct, female advisers are 20% more likely to lose their jobs and 30% less likely to find new jobs relative to male advisers. Females face harsher punishment despite engaging in less costly misconduct and despite a lower propensity towards repeat offenses. Relative to women, men are three times as likely to engage in misconduct, are twice as likely to be repeat offenders, and engage in misconduct that is 20% costlier. Evidence suggests that the observed behavior is not driven by productivity differences across advisers. Rather, we find supporting evidence for taste-based discrimination. For females, a disproportionate share of misconduct complaints is initiated by the firm, instead of customers or regulators. Moreover, there is significant heterogeneity among firms. Firms with a greater percentage of male executives/owners at a given branch tend to punish female advisers more severely following misconduct and also tend to hire fewer female advisers with past record of misconduct.

As state and local lawmakers in Maryland consider proposals to protect undocumented immigrants by limiting cooperation with federal authorities, some of the most persistent and passionate voices in opposition have been Chinese American.

Organized under the banners of groups such as the Maryland Chinese American Network and the Asian American GOP Coalition, they have testified by the dozens against the Maryland Trust Act, which would bar the use of state and local funds to aid federal immigration enforcement. It would also prohibit police from asking about immigration status during traffic stops or other activities.

Of the 32 speakers opposed to the bill at last month’s state House Judiciary Committee hearing, 27 were Chinese Americans. They turned out in similar numbers at a marathon Rockville City Council session on March 6, speaking against a bill that would codify existing policies barring police from enforcing federal immigration law. The same groups organized to fight a similar measure that narrowly passed the Howard County Council in February before it was vetoed by County Executive Allan H. Kittleman (R).

It is an unusual burst of activism from a community of mostly first-generation immigrants, concentrated in Montgomery and Howard counties, who otherwise have largely avoided engagement with local issues. And it is activism that places them at odds with the stance of more traditional Asian American advocacy groups.

Leaders of the movement say President Trump’s aggressive immigration agenda has resonated with at least a segment of the roughly 60,000 Chinese Americans in the Maryland suburbs. They depict undocumented immigrants as a source of increased crime — a claim not supported by local or national data — and a financial drain on schools. The prospect of enhanced protection for those here illegally seems to offend this particular group of immigrants at a core level.

是的我知道丛林法则和个人奋斗被很多人认为是推动社会进步的动力，不过这是不是真的现实呢？至少 Noah Yuval Harari 不认为历史事实与此吻合，而他是历史教授。

没法迅速而简单地扭转社会里的性别歧视，这个恨是隐秘的，是不可言喻的，早就变成正常感情和行为的一部分，根本觉察不到。对于女人的恨，我们根本还没摸到个边儿呢，然而很大一部分是深藏在自己脑子里的。

Let's no concentrate on what we did not overcome. Let's celebrate what we have accomplished. Let's recognize everyone is a package and some come with emotional baggage. As I say 'we', sadly not everyone is 'we'. There are people don't give a F--k. Think of Black Live Matters. Something so obvious, going on for so long, still needs a movement to raise awareness.

To those people, just telling them and hoping them to understand is utterly useless. They will not understand, ever, period. They will even resent it more when it has been brought up to their attention. But we will fight to force the change on them.

Paul Ryan 搞出来的替代 ACA 的法案在众议院一直拿不到足够的票数，因为茶党议员，所谓的 Freedom Caucus，嫌新法案把 Obamacare 摧毁得不够彻底，拒绝支持。昨晚 Freedom Caucus 到白宫里去私下跟川皇直接谈判。今天投票，还是不够数，Ryan 不得不暂时搁置投票：

关于Freedom Caucus，这帮（四十个？）House Rep都是2011年茶党选上来的。从进入议会那天起就是以“反对一切议题”为宗旨，把当年的共和党speaker John Boehner搞下台的就是他们。Boehner最大的罪就是试图和奥巴马民主党合作通过一个合理的ACA. 所以这帮红卫兵们打砸抢了七年，现在轮到他们来执政了，却完全不知道从何做起，因为他们从来没学过怎么讨价还价怎么妥协。所以AHCA只是第一次他们试图干点打砸抢之外的实事，结果却如此之糟。现在川皇要转移阵地去搞tax reform了，大家都等着看他们继续内斗下去。。。

健保法搞不掉，但还是可以用行政手段把它搞破产。We will see what happens "naturally" in the next year or two.

按理说现在要拾起下一个议题 tax reform，目前的观察都认为难度不比改革医疗健保低，有得搞了。而且这方面没有那么清晰的左派右派界线，废掉 Dodd-Frank 监管只是一部分，还有很多改革内容要谈判，共和党内部也搞不定。Politico 上有个 preview：

The nice thing about Trump is his obsession with attention. 一般来讲，华盛顿搞政策，全国人民没兴趣也不懂，一无所知也不 care，当然本来也很复杂。但是现在川总推特治国，搞得大家都不得不 pay attention，很多具体的立场和讨论让更多群众（虽然仍然是少数）知道谁在干啥以及为什么要这样，这是一个教育的过程。
